Purified/Deodorised Coconut Oil has a smoke point of 230C, compared to Virgin Coconut Oil which is 175C.
HOW TO USE
Cooking with Coconut Oil...
Organic Coconut oil is easy to use, substitute for other oils and fats in baking, melt in a pan for frying, or brush over your meats and vegetables for roasted! It is a white, semi-solid oil. It has a subtle coconut aroma and adds a very mild pleasant hint of coconut taste to the food. The warmer it is the more liquid it becomes. If the climate is cooler and a liquid oil is preferred, simply heat the coconut oil in a bowl within a bowl of hot water - it will melt quickly.
GROWING & PROCESSING
How our organic purified deodorised coconut oil is made...
The coconut oil is physically purified when the coconut oil is expelled. This helps keep the free fatty acid (FFA) level less than 0.1% that is the standard of RBD. No chemicals are used in this refinement process.
Some other manufacturers use a sodium hydroxide solution to remove the excess free fatty acid from oil.
Because edible copra is used and it is dried using a hot air dryer there is NO need to bleach this product. This is a new and unique technology.
NB: Some other manufacturers use normal copra which is dried using wood fire, it is much cheaper but needs to be bleached. This is often done by using Fullers earth powder. This is sedimentary clays or clay-like earthy material used to decolourise, filter, and purify animal, mineral, and vegetable oils. There is usually no chemical contamination or residuals, but clearly a lot more processed than our oil.
Deodorising – We also used steam to remove odour
