With over $40,000 raised through the 100% of profits we make from the coffee range, we’ve already seen incredible results – two doctors graduating, five more students pursuing degrees, and countless young girls thriving thanks to improved nutrition. LASTING CHANGE
Through our Neighbours Blend Coffee initiative, we’ve built a meaningful connection with the community of Maliana, Timor-Leste with the Timor Coffee Project! From October to December 2024, together, we raised an incredible $4,043 in profit, which we donated in full to the project. Honest to Goodness contributed an additional $1,500, bringing our total impact since the project began, to more than $40,000. This funding is making a tangible difference, through the programs we support including the Mercy Scholarships and Food for Thought Programs, which empower young women in Timor-Leste by providing access to education and essential nutrition.
CELEBRATING OUR FIRST GRADUATES
One of the most inspiring outcomes of our partnership has been the Mercy Scholarships, which provide financial assistance to young women pursuing higher education. This year marks a milestone as our very first two recipients, Illy and Amuna, are set to graduate as doctors, thanks to the profits created from you purchasing our award-winning coffee!
Currently, five more scholarship recipients are working towards degrees in education, medicine, biomedical sciences, and nutrition. These young women are the future leaders, healthcare professionals, and educators of Timor-Leste, and their success is made possible by every bag of Neighbours Blend Coffee you purchase.
Lily Ward, the eldest daughter of Honest to Goodness founders, Matt and Karen Ward, launched the Neighbours Blend Coffee initiative, after visiting Timor Leste during a high school trip in 2019.
"When we started Neighbours Blend, our goal was to create an organic coffee that not only tasted great but also gave back to a community I came to care so deeply for,” says Lily.
“I’m so excited to see Illy and Amuna graduate as doctors soon. It’s incredible to think about what the next group of scholarship students will now be able to achieve. It’s proof that small actions, like choosing to purchase coffee with a purpose, can have a lasting impact."
WHY ORGANIC COFFEE IS SO IMPORTANT?
Education isn’t just about books and classrooms; it’s about having the nutrition needed to focus and learn. That’s why the Food for Thought program is one of the most impactful initiatives. A lack of proper nutrition can affect girls in so many ways, including their ability to menstruate, concentrate and fully engage in school. Food for Thought ensures they receive the protein they need and opportunities to learn.
