HOW TO USE
Organic diced dried figs are a tasty and nutritious addition to baked products such as cakes, breads, muffins and cookies. They are also delicious added to muesli, trail mixes, sprinkled on yoghurt, in smoothies or as a snack on their own.
GROWING & PROCESSING
Turkish figs are a member of the mulberry family and native to the Middle East, where many species of wild figs have grown for thousands of years. The cultivated fig, 'Ficus carica' derived its name from the ancient region of Ciara in Western Turkey.
Figs are harvested when they are fully ripe and have begun drying on their tree branches, usually between August and September. After harvesting, the organic figs are inspected, washed and dried in dehydration tunnels before being diced on tables. Organic rice flour is used during dicing as an anti-caking agent to prevent clumping.
